Marquise Shape Semi-Mount Diamond Engagement Ring

A marquise carries more apparent size per carat than almost any other cut, and this semi-mount engagement ring is built to let that advantage show, its open seat proportioned for a stone of 3.65 Ctw to 4.50 Ctw. Across the mounting, 22 round cut diamonds are prong set along the shoulders in a line that follows the elongated silhouette rather than fighting it. The open metalwork leaves each stone exposed to light from every direction. Keeping the band narrow beneath a long center is the whole trick with a marquise, since anything substantial underneath shortens the look of the stone above it.
